big bonuses?

the scenario...................you give me say £20000 from the public and I will gamble it on the roulette ..........first time I lose £19000............I then receive another £20000 from the public.........gamble again and this time win £7000..........so I am still £12000 down in debt

in the normal business world........no no bonuses would be paid.....but if yr a banker yes you would expect a bonus......it really is a disgrace

there should be a new type of bank created for the benefit of the masses and not individuals working for banks............SIMPLE!

Got to agree that the crisis was not all the fault of the banks but rather a huge failure of regulation and the law makers.

If the banks had been breaking the law then surely we can prosecute them. But we are not because they were operating within the rules at the time.

I am not a fan of the banking culture (especially the poor sales practices disguised as financial advice they run)but we do need banks and thier services. However the banks need to get back to the culture of service and local community knowledge.

Question! These experienced, high quality bankers that deserve these highly paid bonuses, are these the same experienced, highly paid bankers that got themselves into this mess in the first place?? It seems to me we are happy to bail out incompetence and continue to pay bonuses for incompetence. Also, as taxpaying shareholders we should therefore be able to draw dividends when the bank eventually turns to profit. I think you and I both know this is highly unlikely in both respects. Unfortunately our spineless government has yet again buckled under pressure. Bring back Maggie Thatcher, all is forgiven!
